COLUMBUS, MS · OUR ROOM, YOUR DAY
Why Columbus couples choose The Stables of Harp Farm.
Columbus couples who want country instead of country club have been driving up Highway 45 to The Stables of Harp Farm. The 300-acre farm sits an hour north in Smithville, and it gives Lowndes County brides a climate-controlled barn, an outdoor chapel under the trees, and an on-site cottage all on one property.
The barn is a rebuilt 1980s riding stable: 6,000 square feet, seven semi-private dining stables, white linens and chiffon chairs included, and an Amish-built carriage at the door. The chapel sits in the trees with built-in pews, and the 1953 cottage out back sleeps the bridal party.
Columbus couples typically tell us they wanted the photographs to look like North Mississippi, not a hotel ballroom on the river. The drive is short enough that out-of-town guests still book hotels in Columbus, and the room is big enough that nobody on the guest list gets cut.
